Calipatria Prison Releases

Calipatria State Prison is a CDCR institution in Imperial County. It is not one of the Imperial County Sheriff's Office jail facilities. That distinction controls the release-search route. A person released from Calipatria has a state-prison release, parole, PRCS, discharge, transfer, detainer, or court-related outcome. The sheriff's Booking Summary Request process does not prove a Calipatria release unless the person also had a separate Imperial County jail booking.

The strongest public starting point is CDCR's California Incarcerated Records and Information Search, known as CIRIS. CA.gov describes CIRIS as showing name, CDCR number, age, current location, commitment counties, admission date, and Board of Parole Hearing dates and outcomes for people currently in CDCR custody. That means CIRIS is strongest before release or while the person is still in CDCR custody. After release, confirmation may require CDCR case records, facility release processing, DAPO parole contact, Imperial County Probation for PRCS, VINE notification history, BPH results, or court documents.

Confirm Calipatria Release

Calipatria release confirmation begins with state custody records. Search by CDCR number when possible because names can match. If the person is still at Calipatria or another CDCR institution, CIRIS can show current location and BPH-related date information. If the person has already left custody, use the release-processing trail. CDCR's release and resentencing page says case records staff process Abstracts of Judgment and minute orders, check other cases, follow detainers, assign parole or PRCS offices, draft parole conditions, issue notices, and handle release funds. Those details are state-prison processing facts, not county jail procedures.

1. Open CIRIS and search by CDCR number, or by name if the number is unknown.
2. Compare age, current location, commitment county, admission date, and BPH dates to avoid a false match.
3. If the person is still listed at Calipatria, use the current location and parole-eligible dates to understand release status.
4. If the person has left CDCR custody, request or verify through CDCR case records, facility records, DAPO, PRCS, VINE, BPH results, or the court record.
5. Use Imperial County sheriff records only for a separate county jail booking or a county-to-state transfer event.

CDCR's contact page lists the main CDCR number as (916) 324-7308 and the Identification Unit at (916) 445-6713, Monday through Friday excluding holidays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pacific, for CIRIS assistance. BPH has a separate public records path for parole-hearing material.

For a release record, identify the person by full name and CDCR number if known. Ask for the record type that fits the need: current custody location, release-processing status, parole or PRCS assignment, BPH hearing result, or historical release confirmation. If the person reports locally after release, the DAPO El Centro satellite office or Imperial County Probation may be relevant depending on whether the release is parole or PRCS.

About Calipatria Prison

The CDCR Calipatria State Prison page is the official facility source. Research notes that CDCR describes vocational, academic, cognitive-behavioral, and family-liaison programming at Calipatria. CDCR also notes that the institution is 184 feet below sea level, the lowest elevation of any prison in the Western Hemisphere. That fact is local color, but the release route remains a CDCR route: CIRIS before release, then CDCR records, DAPO, PRCS, BPH, VINE, and court records after release.

Calipatria Parole or PRCS

Release from Calipatria can lead to state parole, PRCS, discharge, transfer, or another hold. State parole is handled by CDCR's Division of Adult Parole Operations. The Southern Region directory lists the Chula Vista 2 satellite office in El Centro at 279 South Waterman Avenue, phone (760) 352-7524. PRCS is different. Imperial County Probation handles PRCS and explains that clients may be transported to the Probation Department's Community Transition Center for assessments and connections after CDCR release.

BPH records matter when release depends on parole suitability or parole-eligible dates. BPH identifies EPRD, MEPD, NPED, YPED, and EPED as California release or parole-date concepts. That process is why a Calipatria release date can change if a court order, detainer, case correction, or supervision assignment changes.

County Jail Distinction

Imperial County's release research repeatedly separates county jail releases from state-prison releases. That distinction protects against a common mistake. A person housed at Calipatria is in CDCR custody even though the prison sits inside Imperial County. The Imperial County Sheriff's Office does not maintain the release record for that state-prison term. The sheriff may have a record only if there was a separate county booking, local court hold, or county-to-state transfer before CDCR custody.

When records conflict, follow custody sequence. County jail booking and transfer records document local custody. CDCR records document state custody. Court records explain sentencing and later orders. Supervision records explain parole or PRCS after release. Each record answers a different part of the Calipatria release question.
